EAT: Welcome to Prague! Let’s hope it’s Saturday because Prague’s farmer’s markets are a must! You’ll find us here almost every week getting our produce and taking advantage of the cheap, quality, local goods. Make sure to grab sure to grab a plum kolach with curd and a decadent věneček at Karlovarské Cukrářství (look for the red tent), herb butter pesto toast, boar sausage, mošt (fresh pressed apple juice), and of course any produce that looks good for a snack later. Yum.

SEE: Before you head in to the castle grounds, we highly recommend taking a walk through the castle neighborhood of Hradčany. The tourist crowds thin out very quickly and soon the fairy-tale like streets of New World are yours to walk. The hill leading to and from the New World Café is so picturesque it hurts. There have been settlements in this area for at least a millennium and has notable sights such as cannonballs in the walls of The Church Our Lady of the Angels, the Home of Tycho De Brahe, Schwarzenberg Palace, and Mozart’s home for the filming of the critically acclaimed film, “Amadeus.” Take your time here, it’s nice.

DO: Now if you were swarmed by too many tourists in the day head back up to the Prague Castle grounds where you could be one of the few people there and be able to have a true medieval Czech experience. The castle grounds are open till 10pm so meander over to Golden Lane to feel the energy of the 16th century alchemists. For some fun, head over to the Letna neighborhood and see what’s going on at Bar Cobra (the “it” place to be in Prague for a local) or to Bio Oko, a 1930’s movie theater with a bar in the lobby, and grab a drink. Na zdravi! (cheers!) to those who still have energy, the night is young.
